Northgard
Thousands of years ago, when the races of Men were young and their heroes reigned, the two first kingdoms of men were formed; Nenmar in the mountainous North and in the rolling plains was founded Arrivonia. These two kingdoms saw the rise, conquest and fall of the Dragons, and later the Dragon Riders. Thus the Nennish, out of reverence and worship of then made their symbols Nen's green dragon in honor of the the riders; the Arrivonian white horse, after their rolling plains and love of their steeds; and shared the rising sun that gives hope to men. To this day the Nennish fear, worship and respect Dragons and those who have power over them.
But the wheel of time turned on and the horse riders of Arrivonia fell victim to conquest. In desperation, they offered alliance and allegiance to Northgard. The King, in his pride, accepted and the Kingdom of the North, Northgard, was created. These barbaric, strong and brave people use mixed disorganized tactics in battle as most do not wear the uniform of their green, black, gold and grey-wearing knights. Whereas the peasants, who get involved whenever they please, are free to where whatever they like.
Millennia of discrimination, war, competition and rivalry between the West Empire and the North has made the two bitter, ancestral enemies and blood rivals. The barbaric Nennish hate the ordered Westerners with a deep, vicious passion.
"It is the Men of the North
And the riders of the plain
For all they are worth
And all that they gain
That revere the Dragons
And the Horse Lords
They weathers the storms,
They are the Nords
Together the men of the Dragon
And the men of the horse
Those who drink from the flagon
And the ones who call themselves Norse
Together they defy those who rule with might
Without the right
To keep the Lion men
Out of the lands of Nen"
The Jarldom works as such; Each city has its own Jarl, a single leader appointed for either wealth, popularity, strength, prowess or simply favor. Each of these Jarls swear loyalty to the King, when the elected King and his dynasty dies the Jarls convene a moot to elect a new King.
There are two disputed capitals of the North; the great trading city of Everthorn that rivals Nasitadel itself. The other is the great stone town and castle of Warholl.
Warahost *- The City of Nen, the Town of Stone. This ancestral capital is one of the most fortified citadels in all the lands of Men, it's great monuments, statues, walls and buildings are beautifully carved by ages of loving Nennish hands. Situated on the "knee-thrust" of a mountain, passed by a river. This means a bridge must be crossed to reach the gates and the staircase up to the bridge, raised from the ground, prevents the use of siege engines. At its peak, closest to the mountain, is the Swarholt; the second biggest and greatest castle in all existence.
Everthorn is the biggest city in the North, bigger even than Wrahost. Without a full wall, equipped with great docks, and many different forms of buildings from the Masters Tower to the slums of the Bank. It's vast amount of trade and gold income is equal to those of the West, except half its oncome doesn't go to the army...allowing the North to rival and sometimes out-trade its southern allies.
