Valcan
Valcan, it's very name meaning "dark desolation", is the vast barren landscape East of Troynan. It is home to some of the most diverse cultures in the world. From the friendly and sometimes fierce desert traders and raiders, the Zabatharcans, to the primitive Orc clans who live like animal packs. The lands history includes the great lifeblood of all kingdoms; trade. But as one of the weaker provinces Zabatharc has been conquered and raided time and time again and has been reduced to a minor power. Only Zabatharc, ruling and harvesting the oil-rich Southern Desert, can claim to be a kingdom. But it is not alone.
But the history of the world is riddled with events, curious events that start in the vengeful hearts of the people of Valcan. These include the founding of Orc and Fey kingdoms, the rise of the three Great Hordes and the domination of the East or Valcan Empire.
"From the ashes of Valcan arose
The forgotten horror that ever grows"
"The rise of Valcan
The kingdom of Malcolm,
The first Fey Lord
To raise the first Horde"
There are many diverse, non-human clans in this land. The biggest are the great riding packs, upon great wolves or Nihlots, that scour the plains. And the strongest are the allied Brongot Orc and the Zolfdir Fey clan, the largest and most powerful in all the Valcan lands. Though their leader is unknown, they control multiple great ruins from a dark age forgotten, the greatest of these ruins is a great city that has come to be known as Azburan.
Azburan, it's name meaning "Great Rock of Ages" was arguably the oldest city ever founded. It is now a great expanse of wooden and stone buildings of crude Orcrish make, built around a great series of massive buildings that could have been temples. It is built within the tall, relatively undamaged walls that could out-shadow a Western fort. How or why these great buildings and impenetrable walls were built so tall are unknown. It serves as a base of operations of the most powerful force in all Valcan. This city and its territories is ruled by an ancient clan of Feys, bearing the old Black Falcon symbol of the East or Lost Empire to symbolize royalty.
