Siilithror is a wild and opulent land, full of contrasts. The province is set on a peninsula, with the tip set by the warm equator, while the landward side is cooler and more mountainous.
Siilithror, in theory, is ruled by a sultan, who is aided by the maharajas who rule the towns and cities. In practice, however, the political system has been corrupt for decades. The sultan is a figurehead for powerful traders, who lead enterprises highly illegal in more civilized nations, and most of the maharajas are little better.
The population of Siilithror varies widely. Close to the tip, humans and elves make up most of the population. As the terrain changes from palms and mangroves to thicker forests, both deciduous and rainforest, and into the area known colloquially as the Wild Lands, one encounters hundreds of fiercely independent tribes, most of which resemble humanoid animals. Despite their bestial appearance, however, they are fully sentient, and many have overcome discrimination and led successful lives elsewhere. On the landward side of the peninsula, rainforests give way to high, misty mountains, and the humanoids become more scarce. These are more forbidding climes, but the humans who mostly live here thrive on the adversity.
The economy of Siilithror is chimeric, to put it lightly. Everything from psychotropic Dazz'ri fruit to fine silks and stonework to the heads of one's enemies are exported, and few legal taxes are collected (although protection rackets are another story), making Siilithror a haven for those who wish to make an unnoticed yet rewarding living.
Fortified Cities:
Bendon Mri: The capital of Siilithror, Bendon Mri contains the sultan's palace and several human and elvish temples. Bendon Mri sits at the mouth of the Jingxao River, and is criss-crossed by canals and barges.
Kairoc: This city is further up the Jingxao River, and is notable for the tall rock outcropping that has been fortified into a citadel. Kairoc is generally accepted as marking the start of the Wild Lands.
Cimbon'win: Cimbonwin is located near the tip of the peninsula. The surrounding lands are famed for their teak forests, used to produce lightweight lacquer armor and exported for use in shipbuilding.
Duc Tong: This city is on the opposite side of the coast from Bendon Mri. Duc Tong protects the valuable southern fishing grounds, but never for whaling- whales are universally regarded as sacred in Siilithror folklore.
Quang Ngi: Quang Ngi is near the center of Siilithror, close to the source of the Surabaya River. It would be merely a small village, but almost all of the reptilian tribes regard the site as sacred, and travel there twice a year to worship.
Bac Giang: This city is on the coastline of Siilithror. It marks an important stop for sailors, as it is usually the last stop before reaching Bendon Mri or Nasitadel.
Quianxpan: This is a garrison town. It sits across the main pass at the border of Siilithror, and both protects the land from foreign enemies and sells supplies to the smugglers passing through.
Psii Jjing: Psi Jjing, although it is located several miles outside Siilithror proper, is claimed by Siilithror nonetheless. In an ancient battle, it is said that Siilithror's tribes came to its aid, and the city swore loyalty to Siilithror in gratitude. Today, however, Psi Jjing usually functions as an independent power, only relying on Siilithror when convenient.
